Data_Junkie··on A belief in meritocracy is not only false: it’s morally wrong
It rubs you the wrong way because you don't understand it. It is blatantly obvious, but some people do not have the ability to see it. Those who have eyes to see see it, no matter who lies. Nobody is telling anybody to shut up, just that it is obvious that there is no meritocracy, even if you cannot see that truth.
Data_Junkie··on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says ‘we should be excited about automation’
When people fear automation what they fear is a world where selfish people are no longer forced to share anything. Deep down they know that there is no history of power sharing more without mass casualties. It's not automation that is scary, it's the approaching fight.
Data_Junkie··on A belief in meritocracy is not only false: it’s morally wrong
Not true. We can see that there is no meritocracy. It's not true. No lack of nuance involved, he who has eyes to see let him see. There is nothing people are more blind to than their own advantages.
Data_Junkie··on Insulin Wars: How insurance companies farm out dirty work to doctors patients
You make people do what they don't want to do by passing laws. It is all on our cowardly, selfish, incompetent lawmakers.
Data_Junkie··on Ask HN: Should Qt be considered in the place of electron?
Takes none of those things to say the truth. I stated a fact, not that I was making a case. You are not the judge. So what your saying is I have to prove what I said was true, but he can say what he wants without challenge ? Really ?
Data_Junkie··on Ask HN: Should Qt be considered in the place of electron?
You can use the tool until it's deprecated. Everything is constantly being "phased out".
Data_Junkie··on Ask HN: Should Qt be considered in the place of electron?
Yeah, that's not true. They have said that Qt4 widgets are feature finished, and not being deprecated. Obviously eventually there will be little use of the older way, but they have repeatedly said they are not deprecating them. Believe what you want.
Data_Junkie··on Ask HN: Should Qt be considered in the place of electron?
No, they are just mostly finished and aren't seeing a lot of new feature work being done ,if any. Qml is a way better way so that's what they are working on. It gets better every release, and that guy doesn't have a clue. Sorry. Just for the record, QML is awesome.
Data_Junkie··on Elon Musk's tunnel project is a bad joke
I don't know about anybody else, but in my mind I've always kind of thought of the term "haters" as short for "jealous haters".
Data_Junkie··on American Entrepreneurs Who Flocked to China Are Heading Home, Disillusioned
He's a foreigner, and that's just how we roll.
Data_Junkie··on Missing Emirati princess 'planned escape for seven years'
Absolutely. They need outsiders to tell them how to live, they can't figure it out. They have had centuries and they need help. We have (small)children who could fix all their problems in a few minutes.
Data_Junkie··on Python and Qt: 3,000 hours of developer insight
Boa-Constructor. We had that years ago but it never got popular for whatever reason, at the time it seemed spectacular. Think it's in the Debian repository.

Data_Junkie··on You’re Not Managing a Team of Software Engineers, You’re Managing Writers
In the US anything you can legally do for yourself, medically, is not done by the Dr. Other than research.
Data_Junkie··on Microsoft suspends Windows 10 update, citing data loss reports
Not if the point is to get work done. I see a new version of Windows and my reaction is usually " oh that's nice, to bad it's MS and at some point it will be pathetic ". Because I know it's coming, it always does and it's always worse than the last thing that pissed me off. Linux Desktop is light years ahead if the point is to get stuff done and not hate your machine.
