No your opinion isn't weird. I agree with you in fact. But we also dont need to share every opinion always (see: "Inside" by Bo Burnham).

Obviously some people like this technology and are happy to trade the choice of using their FB account, nor does your comment contribute any discussion to this cool feature or tie it back to the privacy discussion in any meaningful way. It might be worth letting people just enjoy that news.

DashAnimal··on Microsoft confirms taskbar in Windows 11 no longer supports drag and drop
Every year or so I reevaluate whether Linux can run without dual boot on my desktop and the cycle is the same - something that was previously a blocker is no longer a blocker, but along the way I discover some other issue. It used to be gaming, GPU video decoding on Firefox, etc. Now it is the fact that most music production software uses iLok - in particular I've been using Neural DSP VSTs to play and record guitar.

If there is a workaround for that I'm onboard... At least until I discover the next blocker.

DashAnimal··on A Twitter addict realizes she needs rehab
What would you say were the big news hits of the last year? Also why do you need to be there soon enough?

Reflecting for myself, I used to feel the same way, but quit news about 6 months ago and have never felt happier. No longer am I sinking valuable hours into something that didn't bring me happiness or help me better myself.

DashAnimal··on “About one-third of Basecamp employees accepted buyouts today”
Couldn't Basecamp just have designated bathrooms, choose one way or the other, employees follow company guidelines and HR for dealing with complaints? Would employees discussing this internally finally solve the bathroom war and bring everyone to one side?
DashAnimal··on Roku says it may lose YouTube TV app after Google made anti-competitive demands
But YouTube is a music streaming platform. The most popular, in fact (no, not YouTube music). I constantly listen to music across both Spotify and YouTube. YouTube serves video and doesn't present music in the way we usually think of it, albums sorted by artist, chronologically presented... But that isn't really how the younger gen listens to music. It is a music app and a common way a lot of people consume their music.
DashAnimal··on Microsoft submits Linux kernel patches to enable complete Hyper-V on Linux
GPU decoding support for video streaming in Chrome/Firefox was enough for me to switch back. I know this JUST got added to Firefox but afaik, this Nvidia proprietary drivers don't support this.
DashAnimal··on Sublime Merge 2
Their license has changed as of last year. You no longer purchase ST3, but a license to ST for 3 years (including updating to ST4), and then freezing on that version of ST when the 3 years are up. They aren't selling software to users with ill intent.
DashAnimal··on IBM casts doubt on Google's claims of quantum supremacy
No, they definitely did. In the original blog:

> Professor Preskill summarized the two main objections to the term that have arisen from the community by explaining that the “word exacerbates the already overhyped reporting on the status of quantum technology” and that “through its association with white supremacy, evokes a repugnant political stance.”

> Both are sensible objections. And we would further add...
