Danox··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 Series
You sound very ridiculous. Why is Apple obligated? to follow Nvidia? or AMD? or Microsoft for that matter?

Intel said no to designing iPhone chips, IBM and Motorola couldn’t see a future of faster/better chips to meet the demands of future tech devices, Apple with that crazy CEO, Steve Jobs? Had to go it alone and the rest is history.

The Apple Silicon design group appears to be on a roll. What next? Bringing memory in house? I think they will. Because that will be the only way they can build the devices they want to build at a reasonable price going forward.

Before you yell no what is it about the last 28 years have you missed? They seem to be able to execute long-range projects when it comes to hardware and software in comparison to their tech peers, looking forward to the M7 ultra, in-house memory and the C3 modem.

Apple’s advantage is being the last vertical computer company from the 1980s speaks for itself. having control of the hardware and the operating system software with the ability to create new ecosystems is their advantage in comparison to hardware or software only companies, Note: the tech world would be a better place if Sun, SGI, Digital, Acorn, Motorola of Schaumburg, Illinois had been able to survive the Microsoft/Intel onslaught.

Qualcomm expects to be paid. a toll/fee by each one of the Linux Distro’s for the privilege of being on the hardware with their chips in the device that is their history and one of the reasons why Apple spent five years kicking them out, they very definitely don’t act as a charity, so in the end, it will be interesting because someone is gonna pay their fee. the end user maybe?
Danox··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 series
It potentially can be a good thing, but anyone who is jumping up and down celebrating better wait and see, Qualcomm is more of a lawyer/finance company than a tech company in short a patent troll at heart, so it will be interesting to see what type of fee they want to have the privilege of being on their hardware. In the telecom area historically, they like double dipping.
Danox··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 series
If Apple was lazy, they wouldn’t have spent five years getting rid of Qualcomm modems, Qualcomm is also getting squeezed by the Chinese, Mediatek, Microsoft, Nvidia, Samsung and Apple worldwide.

It will be interesting. because Qualcomm doesn’t give away anything for free, so any of those Linux Distro’s who thinks it’s going to be a free lunch? Are gonna be in for a surprise.

Finally, the dumb company woke up. On one hand, it’s good. On the other hand, bad Qualcomm is known as a patent troll. We shall see if they can mend their ways…

Part of this is probably motivated by the fact that Microsoft and Nvidia have teamed up.

Danox··on Samsung accidentally freezes its smart fridges with a software update
Once a product is sold, you are dead to me. Go away. That’s the Samsung philosophy. Note that it’s also the philosophy in most parts of the world outside the West. Once transaction is done, that’s it. go away.
Danox··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
Where are these ads?? Are they when you open up a program?.
Danox··on M5 Ultra Mac Studio Review
The Cost of a 27- inch fully loaded iMac from Apple $3,700 in 2011 is worth $5,510.05 today (fully loaded) used for 10 years.

The Mac Pro Tower plus the Cinema Display monitor at the time was even more, similar to the Studio M5 ULtra today than the iMac which I believe was an upper middle computer?

$5,700 in 2011 is worth $8,488.46 today

$7,700 in 2011 is worth $11,466.87 today

The cost of Mac Studio M5 Ultra today $9,466.87-$11,466.87

Note: If memory cost was the same as it was two years ago subtract about $2000-$3000 dollars.

Today’s prices are not that far off from top end computers.

The solutions will come in the past, big iron, thought they were immune and not too long afterwards, personal computers took over and big iron was history well, the same thing is going to happen all over again.

Those companies building those big data centers are going to find out that they overspent. Because we’re not going back to the mainframe era, no matter how much OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Meta or Google would like to.

Not for some of those well-connected high school, college kids, whose parents are rolling in it, the next generation of talented Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Zuckerberg’s and others are coming up… Guess what they’re gonna get for Christmas?

The Asahi Linux group goal should have been organizing themselves by taking out a license on Arm processor (probably too late with the present owners) and building a new Linux Distro to go with it instead of being a parasite on someone else’s existing hardware, if the three ex-engineers from Apple could do something like that why couldn’t they aim higher?

Why waste time spending years reverse engineering. Wouldn’t it have been easier to raise money for such an endeavor? I hope someone will come along in the future in kindergarten, junior high or high school who doesn’t know any better will try something like this. I’m too old. for such a journey.

Linux for argument’s sake, may have a few things that are better than Mac OS but Apple being the last vertical computer company from the 1980s, I don’t think they have any interest in using Linux, not after Next, Motorola, IBM, Intel and Nvidia in the past. They don’t need to they appear to navigate thru tech very well in comparison to Microsoft or Intel, for example.

Having no debt and owning in the long run always works out better than a lifetime of renting, if you don’t have to, the massive rent letting these days, is very frustrating at some point don’t you have to draw the line?

Danox··on Apple iPhone 18 Pro Camera test
They Huawei currently are the best when it comes to still pictures, it is the one area/feature they can win, nothing wrong with that. Where Apple wins is in the total hardware and software package, which is why they are better at the video end of the picture in comparison to their competition.

Samsung in the past has also held that distinction, being able to take very good still pictures, but they too fell down when it came to hardware and software, particularly when you start adding in video performance, which requires better software/hardware chops. Nothing is gonna beat Apple chip hardware right now.

Danox··on Apple iPhone 18 Pro Camera test
Most users will never use it, or I should say adjust the aperture, most people appear to be more interested in the video performance, and the video performance depends upon having very good software and hardware combined as one which is where Apple is able to outdo the competition, with Apple Silicon/video software, Apple appears to only care about still pictures up to a certain point, over the last five or six years. In short video is king in today’s YouTube age.
Danox··on End the H-1B Program
Within the United States, the upper division sales the need for H1B’s to the public within the country and then at the same time do all it can to still sub out everything to cheaper labor countries.

The big three countries in competition with the United States, China, Korea, Japan. Do sub out some things, but they do not sub out the core critical part of their industries or allow their companies, to do just about anything they want when it comes comes to pursuing cheaper labor overseas to the detriment of their citizens it is largely a western phenomenon, two of those countries even have strong unions similar to Germany. Who are actually taken seriously. (see what the unions were able to do in Korea for their workers in Korea at two of the memory cartel companies).

Danox··on End the H-1B Program
See China, Korea or Japan, Mohammed, who?
Danox··on End the H-1B Program
So what? If you don’t bother the train anyone within your own country, then what is the point? How do you improve if you don’t build from within? See China if you want to know what happens when you build from within. Infrastructure-wise they are killing the Western world.

America is not alone in failing to build infrastructure from within their country most just make excuses. All along the way (the last sixty years) many Western countries have deindustrialize themselves which mainly helps the upper income groups, but doesn’t help the average wage earners in any of those countries.

Importing H1B’s does not help the target country in the long term. All it does is postpone building infrastructure, industry within and raising the incomes of people within the destination country, the overall collapse of the target country still happens.
