More and more I feel copyright just doesn't make any sense in the digital age. Software engineers have already cottoned on and started doing open source, I hope we see a similar movement for art and media.
Hoping they do a larger study. The methodology is a bit weird though; they change the colour of the screen right when they tell people to imagine stuff. Surely that would only make the effect of imagining harder to pick out? The aphantasia and control graphs also look very similar to my eye, and they didn't show them side by side or anything (though I might have missed it as I only skimmed).
This is why I think we should ban ads on the internet. Ads are inextricably tied to the abuse of our attention; they turn attention into money.
Ads shift the incentive away from providing value, replacing it with an incentive to consume our time. I think all currently ad-driven platforms would be less harmful with a donation or subscription model.
Not to say such a ban is the perfect solution, but I think it is 75% there.
