For example what is the difference between 1% daily returns vs some cleaning product claiming it can remove all stains? I always assume both to be marketing lies. And I assume in both cases there is some fine print T&C that denies legal liability/contextualises claims.
I might be totally incorrect here but this is always how I saw crypto, unregulated, buy at your own risk, marketed products.
What surprises me most is the lack of flexibility in the process. If a candidate shows up with a broad portfolio I’d rather talk about that then doing some random coding problem. Yet our HR manager insists on the fixed program. This is worse when the candidate is interviewing for a senior role where I don’t really care. Then I am mostly interested in their past experiences and knowledge on how to build things that don’t fall apart after six months.
Again it is definitely process over people here… not sure if it is better in other places.
I would also say that these exercises are most effective when they are quite simple. They let you test ‘can this person write a function’. The complicated ones often filter more for people who have studied those type of problems. Harder problems != better coder. At least not for the projects I work on which are more integrating existing services than investing new novel highly efficient code.
To me scrum is a bunch of guidelines that can give you some framework to start from, you try it out, and you see what works, what doesn't. You iterate on the process just as you iterate on the code, no fixed rules, but not too loose neither. But ambiguity, nuance, and context never work well in a corporate setting...
I don't think we need a better process, we need better middle management.
Also for bigger orgs, if there is already a contract with Microsoft, Codespaces will be the likely choice over any alternatives.
Nonetheless cool product, thanks for sharing and making it open source.
This is my theory because I don't think the short video concept works outside of the infinite loop. I uninstalled the YT app after this. I must admit I was spending too much time on it after they added it. Really a shame, I really liked YT.
