Music promoting crime and kids aspiring to that life isn't a purely Cartel thing unfortunately. Gangster rap and drill music often promote crime.

>Or if anime references don't work... 40 year old virgin movies or whatever.

Are you saying that movie doesn't stigmatize male virginity? From its wikipedia page:

>The film was criticized by Harry Forbes of Catholic News Service for promoting "the false premise that there's something intrinsically wrong with an unmarried man being sexually inexperienced,"[41] and by political columnist Cal Thomas for being an example of societal decline in regards to "self-control or what was once known as purity."[42]

I'm not sure it was true, I haven't seen evidence yet. Is there evidence that Coke promoted the course to its employees? It sounds to me like it might have just been some course on a platform that Coke didn't create. For example if Coke required employees to watch a youtube video, then some other weird video showed up in the youtube recommendations, that wouldn't be Coke requiring or promoting that weird video.
Buge··on Comparing H.265 (HEVC) and H265 video file size
Well at least DivX and Xvid use the same video format: MPEG-4 Part 2.

MPEG-4 Part 10/H.264/AVC is a different format.

>there are many encoders of varying quality which can generate such files and each encoder has tons of settings. I don't know which encoder macOS uses but ffmpeg includes state-of-the-art H.264 encoder (x264). Simply reencoding video from H.264 to H.264 using ffmpeg can give you better quality/size ratio than the original file.

It's actually even more complicated than that. Each encoder has multiple settings on how much CPU to spend on the compression. Live screen recording (which this was) usually has the setting set to spend little CPU and get little compression. So like you said you don't need to change which format you use to get better compression, but you also often don't even need to change what encoder you use, you can just change the compression setting to use extra CPU (which might not be possible on a live recording).

>certain dominant political and cultural narrative,

You mean dominant across all of reddit or dominant in that specific sub? There are plenty of subs that have a political and cultural bent quite different from the overall reddit one.

>That proof can in theory be tied to a particular message.

It's a good point that a signature is needed, so code is not simpler.

But it can't be tied cryptographically to a particular message. The DH generates a shared key, and the signature proves that a DH exchange happened. But the signature proves nothing about the message, the signature isn't over the message. The receiver has access to the shared key and thus can forge messages.

It's hard for me to understand what you're saying. I can't tell whether you're saying the FTC has investigated facebook a ton and that means facebook is bad, or that the FTC hasn't investigated facebook enough and that means the FTC is bad.

It looks like currently their ads are all player-created, for their own content. For example refresh this page and see the banner at the top:

But I seem to recall in the past there used to be some regular ads. For example see this archived page:

https://web.archive.org/web/20120427192637/http://www.roblox...

which has this embedded iframe:

which has Adsense javascript embedded in it.

Buge··on Scientists grow bigger monkey brains using human genes, replicating evolution
Huh, the usual reasons I hear for why abortion is ethical is that either (a) the fetus isn't a person and has no rights, or (b) the woman's autonomy rights trump any rights the fetus might have. (a) indicates the monkey procedure was ethical, while (b) is a little more iffy.

But you're right, the argument (c) the woman's autonomy rights trump the fetus's rights but only when the fetus was unintended does indeed indicate the monkey operation was unethical. I'm not so sure that (c) is a very logical position though.

>Court documents that detail the sequence of events say that Ms Parti was asked to clean his new house and office on "multiple occasions" - which breaks local labour regulations, and which she had previously complained about.

I'm curious why it was illegal. Is it illegal to ask a domestic helper to clean your house? Or is it because she was asked to clean 2 houses and an office?

Buge··on The Battle over Dyslexia

Did you or your correspondent view a web page related to the product before or after the conversation? Viewing web pages is quite common.

Facebook also has a button next to ads saying why you were shown the ad. What does that say? Also the causation might be in the other direction. You and your correspondent might have seen an ad that then caused you to have the conversation.

I would expect email to have worse spam than Facebook, because Facebook controls who can make accounts. An email provider has no control over who can make accounts to send emails to the provider's users.
Buge··on Any claim without a URI should be treated as suspicious
To prevent a position from winning by default it only requires a very simple reply: ask for evidence.
Buge··on Any claim without a URI should be treated as suspicious
Could you expand on that? Are you saying the more outrageous a claim it's the more likely people are to believe it? That itself sounds like an outrageous claim to me, so I would like to see evidence for it.
Buge··on Any claim without a URI should be treated as suspicious
Just because 1 side doesn't provide evidence doesn't mean the other side is correct. If neither side provides evidence then neither side is necessarily correct.

And in the absence of evidence, generally the simplest (common sense) explanation should be presumed most likely (Hanlon's Razor).
