Didn't know Rupert Murdoch owned Twitter.
Brometheus··on Many scientists see fusion as the future of energy
nearly 50% for Germany

Brometheus··on US installs record solar capacity as prices keep falling
Are they though? A big fraction of those panels are made in countries other than China. The panels generally generate still more than 70% of their original power after 20 or 30 years.

They're hardend against hail, can be insured and do definitely not require a lot of copper wiring.

I wouldn't buy any stock related to mini nuclear reactors. It doesn't seem like a promising solution, since none of them have been actually deployed at all, they cannot be sold to less rich countries since they prefer solar in general, and the dangers to nuclear accidents, proliferation as well as the inevitable dismantling after their lifetimes.

We're good with solar, wind and hydrogen storage.

I'm not a nuclear engineer, but I wish there was more news about it.

Brometheus··on Modernity is incompatible with planetary limits: a PLAN for the future
The turbines of ENERCON don't need "rare-earths", because of their ring generator https://www.enercon.de/technologie/komponenten/

If you're interested in the historical process, personally I like the videos of PBS Eons a lot:

Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
Alright then, we agree.
Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
Let's not.
Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
That's why we have wind energy in Germany. The wind is mostly strong in the winter and the sun in summer. Soon we will have energy from storage (hydrogen, thermal, and some batteries), too.
Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
Incorrect. While would is part of it, there's also grass, leaves, and agricultural waste as well as biomass collected from water treatment plants.
Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
A surplus is already generated on specific days. At the moment the extra energy is thrown away, in case you didn't know.
Brometheus··on Ask HN: How do I/you prep for the energy crisis in EU?
You just repeat the talking points prepared for Russian assets. Boring.
Brometheus··on Ask HN: How do I/you prep for the energy crisis in EU?
They are awesome and in Germany you can get up to 45% installation cost help

Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
The surplus will be available soon. If you look at the trajectories of the installed capacity, it's obvious.

Germany is in the process to switch over to electricity for heating, too. There are a lot of incentitives to install new heatpumps for example.

Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
Incorrect. Solar panels in Northern Europe provide plenty of energy.

Additionally in the winter we have complementary wind production from our windfarms.

Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
No, it is correct information.
Brometheus··on Europe’s energy crisis hits science
Germany produced 48% of its electricity via renewables this year so far. The surpluss energy will soon be used to electrolyze hydrogen that will be fed into our vast gas infrastructure.
Brometheus··on Nine million people in city 170km long; is world ready for a linear metropolis?
This idea is so so sooo much better
Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
We have minutenreserveleistung (MRL) using wind in Germany, but this is not the best solution :joy:
Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
This is the way.
Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
We will implement storage in hydrogen for the winter. It's already on it's way (again).
Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
We will produce the solar cells ourselves again and we have two of the biggest producers of wind power plants, so there's that.

Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
40% of our electricity comes from renewables already. And it would be much higher, if the Energiewende ("energy turn (to renewables)") hadn't been sabotaged by the same parties that wanted to use coal and gas (namely CDU and SPD).
Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
Yeah, until you elect DeSantis or Trump again. Thanks.
Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
Sadly that's probably true. At the same time, the Energiewende (change to renewables) was sabotaged. Wonder why…

Brometheus··on How Bad Europe’s Energy Crisis Is
For the moment. There's a strong urge in Germany to switch over to heatpumps and more renewables now.

The gas is not coming back. The ministry of economy instructed city energy utilities to "stop investing" into their gas infrastructure...

Brometheus··on Why we’ve decided to decommission Gov.uk PaaS
Well, where do you think those digial infrasture are hosted?
Brometheus··on Nuclear turn green as EU parliament approves new taxonomy
Using renewables to create hydrogen and use that, this plan has been calculated trough again and again and again by Deutsche Institut für Wirtschaft (German Institute of Economy) and others and deemed very viable.

So I take the science over some random dude on the internet ranting about people not changing or something any day.

Brometheus··on Renewables remain cheapest, but cost reductions on hold
