BonoboIO··on Skymont: Intel's E-Cores reach for the Sky
It’s amazing what computers can do today and how absolutely inefficient they are used.
BonoboIO··on Live London Underground / bus maps taken down by TfL trademark complaint
200k?

That seems very little to be honest. Who is licensing what from the London Metro?

BonoboIO··on The mistake of yearning for the 'friendly' online world of 20 years ago
Funny how the internet turned what used to be the “village fool” — the guy everyone ignored when he rambled about nonsense and conspiracies — into a global phenomenon.

Now, instead of fading into the background, they find each other online, amplify the noise, and suddenly the whole world has to deal with it.

The same tools that connected people for good also made it easier to spread misinformation at scale.

BonoboIO··on Monokai Pro for Jetbrains
You have to buy another commit cartridge.

But we don’t sell commits anymore, you have to buy the pull, push and commit bundle.

BonoboIO··on Monokai Pro for Jetbrains
The website is really well made, I like the theme and I think I use the normal version on VS Code.

A Color Theme subscription, this feels like a joke to me. I can get custom fonts and styles, but colors … and not even a new theme but a „remastered“ version …

Edit: Nope, using Dracula

BonoboIO··on 38C3: Blinkencity, radio controlling street lamps and power plants [video]
What a great way for a state to cause havoc in all of Europe.

Russia definitely has the capabilities to send such signals in a coordinated attack and deny an wrong doing.

And this is just one example we know of, there must be hundreds.

BonoboIO··on Feed readers which don't take "no" for an answer
Complains about traffic, sends 0.5mb of everything.

That’s my kind of humor.

BonoboIO··on Satellite powered estimation of global solar potential
Damn, your neighbor got robbed by the installer …
BonoboIO··on HDMI 2.2 is set to debut at CES 2025
HDMI should have made it easy to see what cable is supporting what.

The HDMI versioning chaos did not help.

The worst is still USB 3.1 Gen 2.1 Hyper Giga Super Speed Mark II

BonoboIO··on Dropbox saved millions building a custom load balancer
This sounds like it should be already standard practice
BonoboIO··on The Albuquerque "Broken Arrow" Nuclear Accident

BonoboIO··on Small AI Chip Maker Marvell Now More Valuable Than Intel
I believe it, when i see it
BonoboIO··on Small AI Chip Maker Marvell Now More Valuable Than Intel
You mean intel that uses TSMC to manufacture their chips, because they can not create top of the line chips themself?
BonoboIO··on No NAT November: My month without IPv4
What benefits has ipv6 beside that ipv4 addresses for public servers are in short supply?
BonoboIO··on Intel announces Arc B-series "Battlemage" discrete graphics with Linux support
They are trying … for like 10 years
BonoboIO··on Restaurant Menu Tricks (2020)
I laughed at the last paragraph.

I nearly eat daily at my Thai restaurant near work and it’s delicious and I joke with the cook, that what I would call spicy he would not even notice.

Such lovely people, so grateful and caring. I always tip, which is not common in most my country for a meal at a fast food place.

BonoboIO··on Show HN: Markwhen: Markdown for Timelines
I searched for a trademark for „Markdown“, but I didn’t find any. Can you show me the trademark?
BonoboIO··on Show HN: Markwhen: Markdown for Timelines
Wow … John Gruber was also very upset, … , that the word Markdown was not capitalized throughout the spec.
BonoboIO··on Hetzner cuts traffic on US VPSs, raises prices
As long as their their wood floor datacenter and your backup in the same location does not burn down

„… data center had wooden ceilings, no extinguisher, and no power cut-out“

https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/ovhcloud-fire-rep...

BonoboIO··on Hetzner cuts traffic on US VPSs, raises prices
Hetzner had these good prices for decades now.

They are still dirt cheap for cloud and dedicated

BonoboIO··on Hetzner cuts traffic on US VPSs, raises prices
8 years ago, hetzner had no cloud offerings

The dedicated servers still have 20 tb traffic included

BonoboIO··on New study shows: EV batteries last much longer than expected
I think this is the answer. That is also a problem for hybrid powers vehicles, the battery is small and it gets charged and discharged 0-100 / 100-0 very often, if you use the hybrid as intended.

Some manufacturers limit this, but in a few years we will see a lot of hybrids that have batteries that barely work and will not deliver the expected ev only distance by a lot.

BonoboIO··on 2007 Boston Mooninite Panic
Wow … this escalated quickly.
BonoboIO··on My Time Working at Stripe
Everyone is searching for validation and often times we seek it on the outside and often in the wrong place.

Companies don’t care about you, they care about the work you do … and if you don’t bring less to the table … surprise. But everyone has to learn it the hard way, some earlier than others.

BonoboIO··on Dropbox announces 20% global workforce reduction
I think even the Mozilla CEO made more … I looked it up as I wrote this.

Nope … the Mozilla CEO makes 6.9M a year which is insane.

In comparison Drew is underpaid by a factor of 50 or more.

BonoboIO··on Apple stuck the Mac mini power button on the bottom
That would be a thing Jony Ive would do. Design first.
BonoboIO··on The IPv6 Transition
Never would have guessed that ipv6 could be a battery drain
BonoboIO··on Tesla Robotaxi
So this should be available next year … like the full self driving cars since 2012.

This is just another to have something in the pipeline to keep shareholders at least interested. It seems Musk tries really hard to keep the stock price from collapsing.

BonoboIO··on OpenAI completes deal that values company at $157B
Apple survived with Siri for 10 years that is absolutely useless beside creating a timer … so they have time to wait and even use open source llms in the future.
BonoboIO··on OpenAI completes deal that values company at $157B
SoftBank you say … boy I wouldn’t touch anything that SoftBank is investing in.
