BonoboIO··on New tools for building agents
What are the agents doing for you? Just interested in your actual use cases.
BonoboIO··on Show HN: We built a Plug-in Home Battery for the 99.7% of us without Powerwalls
Is this a product for the USA? Is the grid that bad to need something like that?
BonoboIO··on Meta keeps 'block' lists of ex-employees – and even a VP can't get you off them
You are, who you work for.
BonoboIO··on Mistral OCR
Gemini Free Tier would surely work
BonoboIO··on Apple M3 Ultra
A factor of 100 faster in compute … wow.

It will be interesting when somebody will upgrade the ram ram of the 5090 like they did with 4090s

BonoboIO··on MacBook Air M4
AI is finally forcing them to do it
BonoboIO··on The XB-70 (2019)
That is a really good explanation and reference. I like those old documents.
BonoboIO··on The XB-70 (2019)
I read something about those systems, they really have that already in service? Damn.

Those kind of system would be really „cheap“ to deploy, you overwhelm a lot of air defense systems with it and well it’s transportable outside of air defense range.

BonoboIO··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2025)
An invoice matching and tagging system based on the documents in paperless-ngx

Using Gemini LLM and Python.

Highly focused on my needs, with special prompts and few shot matching.

Code is a little bit convoluted, maybe I will have time to open source it.

BonoboIO··on Building a BitTorrent client from the ground up in Go (2020)
Did knew, that the client does that with the tit-for-that.

In an ideal world the network would prioritize to upload to high speed like webseeds, so the webseeds can distribute even faster for everyone else.

Or do I make a mistake in my mind and the network already distributes efficiently and it is not needed.

BonoboIO··on When your last name is Null, nothing works
Big Endian or Little Endian ;-)
BonoboIO··on Minuteman III test showcases readiness of U.S. nuclear force's deterrent
It’s absolutely breathtaking and unreal to watch it go woooosh. I mean what a marvel of engineering.
BonoboIO··on How Nissan and Honda's $60B merger talks collapsed
As much as i think, that he would never have gotten a fair trial … he did not even pay his escape helpers.
BonoboIO··on YouTube's New Hue
Perfect
BonoboIO··on Nvidia's RTX 5090 power connectors are melting
Yeah, but we also have reliable mature connectors for decades, and they try to make new connectors and it’s not rocket science to transfer that kind of load.
BonoboIO··on Backblaze Drive Stats for 2024
Exos Series?

I never had problems with Seagate Exos or WD Red or even the WD shucked White Reds.

It’s interesting how different the experiences are, some swear by a specific brand.

BonoboIO··on The FAA’s Hiring Scandal
I learned about the opportunity to apply for an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) job through:

A. A PUBLIC NOTICE OR MEDIA ADVERTISEMENT +5 B. A FRIEND OR RELATIVE 0 C. COLLEGE RECRUITMENT +3 D. WORKING IN SOME OTHER CAPACITY FOR THE AGENCY +3 E. SOME OTHER WAY 0

Wow … I get points for this. No surprise, that this is going south. I m shocked.

BonoboIO··on "A computer can never be held accountable"
Oh I see, the Tesla Defense.

Disengage to deflect responsibility for a crash.

BonoboIO··on "A computer can never be held accountable"
Full agreement.

For a fender bender, well money can fix a lot of things, but what happens when the car kills a mother and her toddler.

CEO goes to jail?

BonoboIO··on My failed attempt to shrink all NPM packages by 5%
In summary: It’s a nice feature, which gives nice benefits for often downloaded packages, but nobody at npm cares for the bandwidth?
BonoboIO··on DeepSeek-R1: Incentivizing Reasoning Capability in LLMs via RL
Out of nowhere … Europe!
BonoboIO··on How shut-down Bay Area tech companies ditch their fancy gear
MDF is considered premium now, when they even substitute screws with plastic.
BonoboIO··on Trae: An AI-powered IDE by ByteDance
Pair programming with your invisible Chinese coworkers, you don’t even know you have.
BonoboIO··on UK's hardware talent is being wasted
You mean not getting gas from Russia?
BonoboIO··on Authors seek Meta's torrent client logs and seeding data in AI piracy probe
I think this works only to a certain degree, they will still use as much data as they can use to train the models.

Synthetic data will not replace original data like books. Synthetic data works very good for math.

BonoboIO··on Authors seek Meta's torrent client logs and seeding data in AI piracy probe
You don’t talk about the fight club …

Everyone uses „pirated“ content, but some are better at hiding it and/or not talking about it.

There is no other way to do it.

BonoboIO··on Using eSIMs with devices that only have a physical SIM slot via a 9eSIM SIM car
I would love to have a simple device out of the box that can receive sms and send them via api to a Webserver.

Just with my own SIM card, or even multiple SIM cards.

I m working on a diy solution with cheap sim800c usb modems but it’s just not that good.

BonoboIO··on Skymont: Intel's E-Cores reach for the Sky
It’s amazing what computers can do today and how absolutely inefficient they are used.
BonoboIO··on Live London Underground / bus maps taken down by TfL trademark complaint
200k?

That seems very little to be honest. Who is licensing what from the London Metro?

BonoboIO··on The mistake of yearning for the 'friendly' online world of 20 years ago
Funny how the internet turned what used to be the “village fool” — the guy everyone ignored when he rambled about nonsense and conspiracies — into a global phenomenon.

Now, instead of fading into the background, they find each other online, amplify the noise, and suddenly the whole world has to deal with it.

The same tools that connected people for good also made it easier to spread misinformation at scale.
