The rest makes a lot of sense and I'm glad that something is being done.
A) Not everything has to bring you a profit, jeez.
B) You know how you profit from training? By actually providing solid training to pilots who then fly your planes skillfully and don't crash and don't have any trouble landing. You not only get money from customers paying you for those pilots to fly them, you also save money by not getting sued into oblivion for your negligence.
It's baffling to me that any popular app wouldn't have 2FA (or any app, for that matter.)
My one gripe with the article itself is the introduction: "I’ve noticed something exciting but sort of crazy". Claiming that TV prices dropping fast is 'crazy' seems a bit funny. Prices drop for a lot of stuff though, I suppose, some technology does stay in the same relative range. But it's probably only until it reaches a certain quality point past which there's not much to entice customers into high-end purchases.
I'm wondering if, with a big enough budget and a team of skilled devs like Dustin here, the local government could create more refined simulations to tackle these planning issues. Or would that inevitably run into the problem mentioned in his Project Mission: 'People are local experts on the small slice of the city they interact with daily -- the one left turn lane that always backs up or a certain set of poorly timed walk signals'?
Perhaps, with a large enough data pool, even these small quirks could be worked out via simulation?
Simply saying "We have E2EE so you can trust us now" and not actually clarifying where E2EE is applicable in your apps is some very typical PR talk.
I think Sesame Street is up there with Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood as one of the kindest and most influential shows on television, not in terms of influencing the medium and other shows but in terms of influencing viewers. Each of them brought up thousands of good people who went on to do more good. Caroll Spinney has, undoubtedly, played a huge part in that. RIP to a great man from a great show.
