Axsuul··on A road safety plan that will lead to cars communicating with each other
Sorry but it'll happen regardless since the incentives are too strong. Imagine highway lanes in the future that only allow cars that support communication protocols – say goodbye traffic.
Axsuul··on The YouTube like button glows when you say "smash that like button" [video]
It should still highlight it to clarify which button they're referring to

Axsuul··on Suspicious data pattern in recent Venezuelan election
10 year olds don't have jobs and responsibilities.
Axsuul··on Suspicious data pattern in recent Venezuelan election
We do need a better solution because running elections is very expensive while voter participation is not great if you have to show up in person.

Axsuul··on macOS Sequoia Preview
I wish there was a way for Siri to dictate an article too from that dropdown.

How was Cursor vs. Sublime?
Axsuul··on Ask HN: Bootstrapped founder. Does it make sense to move out of SF for a while?
I think you already know the answer. The only reason I can see staying in SF is if you plan on raising funding.
Axsuul··on Ask HN: Are there any open source forks of nomad and consul?
Same reason why you use Ruby instead of Java, Nomad has its own opinionated way of doing things that jives with a lot of people.
Axsuul··on AI-powered cameras installed on Metro buses to ticket illegally parked cars
"A person who is ticketed would have access to the recording, Territo said, and the ability to challenge the violation — a process that can take months."
Axsuul··on AI-powered cameras installed on Metro buses to ticket illegally parked cars
How is this dystopian? Dystopian would be if we ticket cars based on how likely they might park in the bus lane.
Axsuul··on Google surpasses $2T market cap
Market cap is not profit
Axsuul··on As solar capacity grows, some of America's most productive farmland is at risk
Transmission is a huge challenge – you can't just generate solar energy in one place. You need to generate it near the actual consumers.
Axsuul··on Opengist: Open-source alternative to GitHub Gists
Thanks for building this! Any plans on supporting anonymous gists?
Axsuul··on IBM nearing a buyout deal for HashiCorp, source says
If so, Consul → OpenCabbage, Nomad → OpenNoodle
Axsuul··on Once again, California exceeds 100% of demand on its main grid with
Not really, because the return on investment in nuclear is the elephant in the room. Not only does it require massive expenditures and take years to bring online, it also takes decades for it to become profitable. Not many people are willing to make that investment when the lifecycle of solar and wind are orders of magnitude shorter.
Axsuul··on Launch HN: Greptile (YC W24) - RAG on codebases that actually works
Also looking for something local but I feel like Apple will probably eventually release local LLMs for your entire filesystem.
Axsuul··on Pains of building your own billing system
I’m referring to the Premium Plan. We are not an enterprise but need a lot of the features offered at that tier, stuff that I feel most businesses need like credit notes and invoices sent by email.
Axsuul··on Pains of building your own billing system
We looked into them. Unfortunately they’re very expensive.
Axsuul··on San Francisco sues California over 'unsafe,' 'disruptive' self-driving cars
That would only make sense for the most frequented routes but the remaining 80% would be challenging since each person has a unique point A and B across a sprawling metropolis. The "last mile" in Los Angeles is a different beast. Each subway route would only improve the commute for less than one percent of the population. A better way would be dedicated bus lanes but it still wouldn't be as efficient as driving due to the amount of transfers you would need.
Axsuul··on San Francisco sues California over 'unsafe,' 'disruptive' self-driving cars
We need more self driving cars in Los Angeles. There were more pedestrian deaths than homicides in 2023. Most people who walk or bike in LA would rather share the road with an ever improving robot than a distracted human.
Axsuul··on Ask HN: Help me solve a dilemma, study in the US or take a job in the EU?
How often does this happen? You hear about it but I don’t know anyone within 3 degrees of separation that has had this happen to them.
Axsuul··on FedEx launches new e-commerce platform
They also have data that we have no idea about, and it shows.
Axsuul··on 95% of container ships are now going around the Southern Tip of Africa
Not many navys can project force that far due to logistics.
Axsuul··on FAA orders grounding of more than 170 Boeing 737 Max 9s
Everyone seems to be jumping to conclusions too quickly. It was a plug that failed that filled the spot where a door normally goes, not the actual airframe.
Axsuul··on Solar and wind to top coal power in US for first time in 2024
With manufacturing coming back to the US, our energy needs will likely be even greater even with accelerating adoption.
Axsuul··on [dead]
He found out.
Axsuul··on Is El Salvador's Bitcoin bet paying off?
It's beyond that – culture. Being ambitious in US is rewarded and celebrated. Plus having the most powerful military in the world makes others want to invest more into the US due to the likelihood it will still be around.
