To answer your questions:

My Location: Toronto, ON. Client: Orange County, CA. Designer: San Fran, CA/Bangaldesh India (he's back and forth).

Combined Programming Language/Framework exp: Rails 4.0, Ruby 2.0, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS3, HTML5, AJAX, Vast understanding of web architecture (http, TCP/IP etc...)

The work itself is quite advanced compared to other projects I've worked on. I feel a bit strange boosting the hourly rate up double but the reality is, taking a project like this on fulltime I need to make sure that my needs are met/covered.

+1 it's amazing how great you'll feel once you officially quit. In addition, try to remove any crutches from your life i.e. drinking, smoking etc... It's very rewarding long term.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. I've been very fair with the client so I doubt it is a personal issue. It may be a financial one but If I'm completely honest, it seems like he's just taking the 'Art of War' advice a little too seriously and using it in the wrong context. I do have a contract in place, but we are in different Countries - so I'd have to look into how that would work. I'm in Canada, he's in the U.S.

Edit: Looked into this further and I can verify that you're right here. The price of an index is determined by the price movements of the underlying shares. Demand factors on the index fund play no role

Simply put, the indexes use either a price weightings, or a market capitalisation weighing. Which are like weighted averages.

With market cap weighting index, a small movement in the share price of an indexes underlying underlying share with a large market cap, will give more say than a large movement in share price of a share with a small market cap. The price method works the same way, except giving weightings towards market prices rather than market caps

The Dow uses price weighting, while most other indexes use market cap weighting. And the cap method truly speaking makes more sense.

I totally agree. The initial scope of the project is always dragged out by enumerable changes, and if you are on a fixed price agreement you will inevitably be losing. It's an un-fair playing field as far as I'm concerned.

Basically, it's a new way to find music. You sign-up, and can upload and leap/vote up songs similar to HackerNews. The songs at the top are ranked highest/hence the songs you might want to hear!
