AndreasHae··on Congress.gov API
>I havn't seen this before but the .pagination.next url value is a great convenience

Reminds me of HATEOAS [0]. Definitely makes it easier to browse using a REST client.

>On the other hand, the OpenAPI documentation doesn't explicitly mention offset and limit for paginated services even though it lists format for each service

I could imagine that they use some kind of middleware for pagination which leads to it not being explicitly included in the OpenAPI spec, especially if they generate it from their DTO classes instead of going API first.

Also, am I the only one who thinks specifying the expected response format via query param is weird and they should just use the Accept header instead? Eh, I guess it’s better supported by OpenAPI.

AndreasHae··on Europe's Software Problem
I think the poor pay is actually a result of the difficulty to raise money in Europe. Smaller funding rounds leave less room for SV-level compensation, which drains talent to higher-paying economies.
AndreasHae··on Ask HN: What is your “I don't care if this succeeds” project?
My friend group used to participate in some game jams in high school. Just two weeks ago, we decided that it’s time to take the best one of our creations and extend it so far that we can release it in some stores. We don’t expect to make a lot of money from it, we’re just in for the experience of creating something cool from start to finish.

AndreasHae··on The code I’m still ashamed of (2016)
There is a talk by Uncle Bob addressing this topic. [0] He suggests that programmers should take an oath, similar to doctors or other types of engineers. The first point says that you shall not write bad code, where „bad“ does not only refer to the quality, but also the ethics behind the code. I really recommend watching the full talk, it‘s a real eye-opener.

AndreasHae··on Designing the Facebook Company Brand
> Bad logos change to often. The 'F' logo stood the test of time and ticks the boxes of Dieter Rams design principles which is respected globally by designers.

As far as I understood, the new logo will be used for the company itself, as opposed to its core product - the Facebook platform - which is still going to use the blue/white 'F'.

What about EU citizens living in the United States? They also fall under the scope of GDPR AFAIK.
