Aleksdev··on I strive to be a 0.1x Engineer (2016)
My last sentence clearly states not everyone picks the right struggle. Also not all countries have equal opportunities the world is not fair. I simply was referring to the 2 examples the original poster was referring to.

Einstein was working and studying in his free time. Just because you don’t have that energy doesn’t mean it’s a companies fault.
Aleksdev··on I strive to be a 0.1x Engineer (2016)
You do realize Einstein was always studying? Sergei Brin worked like a maniac. Struggle breeds success. Not everyone successfully picks the right thing to struggle on.
Aleksdev··on Idiot Proof Git
Map that bad boy to ctrl + z in terminal and now your talking business!
Aleksdev··on GitHub stars won't pay your rent (2020)
You are a complicated character.
Aleksdev··on GitHub stars won't pay your rent (2020)
Yeah, that sounds like a nightmare.
Aleksdev··on Being Ridiculed for My Open Source Project (2013)
Ouch!
Aleksdev··on White House deletes tweet after Twitter adds 'context' note
This is not a left or right issue. It’s the media and big tech covering up the facts that’s an issue. Sounds to me like you have a bias.

>videos don’t exist

Wait, do you seriously think these videos are fake? They were all over Reddit.

I can send you the link. I can’t post it here since it has nudity but I’m more then happy to send it to you. Is there an email or way you would like to receive these vids? (MP4 files).

Aleksdev··on White House deletes tweet after Twitter adds 'context' note
>what videos

The videos of him smoking crack and negotiating with prostitutes in Ukraine.

>when did Hunter Biden deny the laptop

Joe Biden went on stage to debate Donald Trump where he publicly said that the laptop was “Russian disinformation”. Hunter Biden didn’t really deny it though he said he “wasn’t sure if it was his”.

Twitter refused to post the NY post story as well as banned users mentioning the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

Obviously, this was a cover up. The laptop was his.

Aleksdev··on Twitter users jump to Mastodon, but what is it?
Your post comes off as extremely negative towards Musk. I’m going to get downvoted for saying this but let’s be honest for a minute.

There were multiple videos titled something like “a day in the life of a twitter employee” were they employees at twitter documented how they drank alcohol and “chilled” on the roof after a few meetings. This doesn’t seem like work to me.

Second, the moderation team at twitter covered up the Hunter Biden laptop story because they had a bias. I don’t think they were doing a great job.

Aleksdev··on White House deletes tweet after Twitter adds 'context' note
Sure, let me be clearer. The media said the laptop and the videos were Russian misinformation. Turns out that was his laptop and that was him in those videos.

I’m not a lawyer but he is on video in 4K doing illegal activities. I think it would be an open and shut case.
Aleksdev··on White House deletes tweet after Twitter adds 'context' note
I think there is nothing wrong with fact checking the problem is that the fact checking that is being done often has a bias. One example that comes to mind was the Hunter Biden laptop that was dismissed as Russian propaganda by the fact checks. Turned out it was completely true.
Aleksdev··on Google finds more work makes employees happier
Staying busy is always good. Makes the day go by faster also.
Aleksdev··on From Google to Twitter
“I then posted a link to the extension on an internal Slack channel. On the same day, I was fired and that post was taken down”.

Yes, why even post this on slack?

You know there is a major shift in management and everyone is under a microscope. Conversations are likely to be monitored and this seems like something that a company can perceive as a threat as now e-mails can be leaked.

Aleksdev··on From Google to Twitter
Well it depends. If let’s say you wrote 50 lines of code the entire year and your title is software engineer then I think some questions should be raised.
Aleksdev··on From Google to Twitter
Exactly, it comes off as immature and that he is not serious about his work. I think art is a great hobby but there is no need to bring people you work with into your comics.
Aleksdev··on From Google to Twitter
The author comes off as a bit of a boat rocker. It looks like he was on the HR radar before Elon even purchased Twitter.
Aleksdev··on Housing in Tokyo is cheaper and more spacious than people think
30% of your paycheck seems to be the general rule for housing. At least in the states.
Aleksdev··on Twitter Blue for $8/Month
To be honest I think Twitter is better without any check marks. I remember reading somewhere that check marks were awarded to some user based on their connections to certain employees at Twitter.
Aleksdev··on U.S. workers have gotten less productive – no one is sure why
Smartphones.
Aleksdev··on Musk’s inner circle worked through weekend to cement Twitter layoff plans
He literally just bought it. Give the man a chance before writing him off.
Aleksdev··on Musk’s inner circle worked through weekend to cement Twitter layoff plans
I see, I worked in America but never in California. That make more sense now.
Aleksdev··on Musk’s inner circle worked through weekend to cement Twitter layoff plans
Correct me if I’m wrong but it all really depends on the contract. I understand there are labor laws in place but if the person agreed to something then I don’t think California law can do much.
Aleksdev··on The Restaurant Industry’s Worst Idea: QR Code Menus
I hate how 1/3rd of this article is just the author describing his or her experience from using the traditional menu in the past and what a QR code is.

Maybe it’s just me but I would really like author to get to the point. Also QR code menus are great.

Edit: One thing to add is that the QR code restaurants I have went to have the physical menu as well so if you forget your phone you can still order.

Aleksdev··on Pokemon Card Animation
Very cool! It seems to have a flicker effect on my iPhone. This effect could be used for other things as well not just cards.
Aleksdev··on Activist glues his head to glass covering 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' painting
Some people have a lot of free time.
Aleksdev··on Alphabet Earnings Report Q3 2022 [pdf]
I think GCP, YouTube and Google maps are pretty good products. To answer your question. I don’t think it’s that easy to create a product that people love.
Aleksdev··on My next Mac might be the last
Could it be that OP just misses the good old days? Many of us miss the OS X Snow Leopard and windows XP days.
Aleksdev··on What “work” looks like
Very interesting read. I was always a fan of the way Tesla conducts meetings.

“Walk out of a meeting or drop off a call as soon as it is obvious you aren't adding value.”
