4ydx··on Mean People Fail
They released a free browser and then didn't innovate. You can paint the picture however you like for yourself, but I distinctly remember what it was like to try to develop anything in javascript for IE. It was beyond horrible. In their defence they did come up with Ajax which has been a boon of course.
4ydx··on Thoughts on Google+: I fucked up. So has Google
This guy curses too much in his post. Lame.
4ydx··on Don't panic and keep forking Debian
Binary logs and the amount of new code which these developers are incorrectly assuming will be stable. It is a total disaster in my opinion. I fell in love with using Linux because everything is text files. Binary approaches will only make using linux more cryptic.
4ydx··on Hotel 22: The Dark Side of Silicon Valley
The older I get the more it seems that empathy is only derived from a person being able to understand their own humanity and the inherent vulnerability. The rest think they are supermen (or women). Trying to communicate with them is rather draining :P

Ahhh thanks for the laugh :)
4ydx··on Systemd-resolved DNS cache poisoning
Systemd... a very large mass of c code being written in a short amount of time with huge functionality creep. Yeah, this is going to end/begin really well. I swear all of the people commenting about it being a good thing are not seasoned developers.
4ydx··on Important Things to Remember When Coding
She did, however, dismiss them as being hardly important to what she does. This is the ever growing phenomenon of "I can too" that is growing in our culture. I love the fact that more people are becoming interested in programming! I am not so happy about the fact that people seem to shirk the fundamental need to learn that underpins programming (or computer science... however you want to label it). If a person has no interest in learning recursion and pointers, I am not so sure that they are doing their company or the people who have to work with their code a favor. Then again, there are a lot of know-it-all programmers out there whose personalities are so grating that talking to them is an absolute slog.
4ydx··on How script kiddies can hijack your browser to steal your password
Another reason to disable javascript by default.
4ydx··on Bruce Schneier: Drawing the wrong lessons from horrific events
Ok, well, feel free to not understand statistics.
4ydx··on This is the mail system
Agreed.
4ydx··on This is the mail system
It is a perfectly reasonable error message that mail clients should try to beautify. The message itself is absolutely necessary, but should perhaps be cleaned up by the client. All of the calls to write a new "protocol" by the posters on that blog make me wonder if they even understand what the word means.

4ydx··on Poll: What's Your Favorite Programming Language?
Hell yeah vim rocks!

So too does the command line! high five

4ydx··on Poll: What's Your Favorite Programming Language?
As far as #4 is concerned, windows is not configurable and the "command line" is an absolute joke, which renders the idea that it has a better developer experience absolute rubbish :) The command line is super powerful and highly convenient in a developers hands.
4ydx··on Paul Graham has lost the plot
So the right to pursue an old business model is dead. Good riddance.
