Clearly it is much different than heating in winter; the latter is a matter of survival, while the former is mostly a matter of comfort.
One could indeed argue that in the precarious state we are in, expending energy for unnecessary comfort should be minimized, something that passive designs can aid.
As we also try to minimize energy expenditure of heating, through insulation and other passive means.
Due to the chaotic nature of these systems we are incapable of predicting the effect of our actions.
It could very well be that by artificially increasing cloud cover we cross a different tipping point with grave consequences (e.g. flooding, ecosystem collapse from lack of sunlight, or who knows what)
Companies that built their models on public data and illegal scraping/copyrighted works, amassing massive datasets on the most private aspects of countless individuals, and creating a huge bubble with potentially humongous implications upon implosion. Oh, and, increasing wealth concentration and inequality by an incredible amount.
The future is here.
> Rubio invoked images of US border patrol agents and elected leaders being “dragged before an international court” and tried by judges from around the world
Astounding hypocrisy. The combination of these words with this administration's actions could only occur at the highest level of hubris and narcissism.I'm sure they are aware that they are doing precisely the same, but just want no interference to their actions.
And most importantly, they do it to help the actual leader of the US: Netanyahu.
> Chang established the basis of this research in a previous publication with an intentionally simplified model that ignored such complexities as geography and migration
This seems like a very impactful simplification. Especially given the relative limited mobility of peoples up until very recently.2. Not every captured soldier of course, some don't even know where they are.

We are affected by the weather much more than we'd like to admit.
Of course I haven't scoured the states (not even Germany for that matter), so.. :)
That is wildly false. First of all the availability of eating out options is directly influenced by where you are (e.g. in Berlin there is incredible variety of cuisines, price ranges and healthiness), and secondly almost every food or grocery you buy in Germany is of higher quality than the US equivalent.
I remember my shock when every single food item I bought in the US had sugar in it.
It surely cannot be justified only for training at this scale, and since models nowadays are improved more and more by fine tuning than re-training from scratch.
Will a viable local model crash the US economy ?
More importantly, are the LLM companies aware, and are they deliberately buying out all the RAM and GPUs in order to prolong the inevitable ? Probably not, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case.
And trust me you'll like it ;)
