Please add knobs for the end user to manually configure this per package and global default before adding autodetection. As a user to is very frustrating to have to patch the package manager to override some well-intentioned automagic which didn't consider my setup or dig through sources to uncover some undocumented assumption. yarn is a cautionary example.

It fills in a lot of the blanks. I should have read it before engaging.
> This is what “our potential” consists of, and it constitutes the ultimate aim toward which humanity as a whole, and each of us as individuals, are morally obligated to strive.
I do not believe that this is either obvious, an accurate generalization of longtermism or backed by references (did I miss one?)
EDIT: Did miss the "noted elsewhere" link (pdf): https://c8df8822-f112-4676-8332-ad89713358e3.filesusr.com/ug...
Any CS students out there looking for thesis material? :)
Other than that I think both styles are fine.
Not necessarily. Consider the PGP Web-of-Trust model. Centralization of trust is choice, nothing inherent in verification as such.
Could you elaborate? It sounds like you are talking more about challenges of distributed consensus (elections, raft). What I have in mind is distributed peering algorithms for decentralized networks. No consensus, elections, or quorum required. You may wish to run consensus algos on top of such networks but that's one layer up, if you will.
Byzantine in the context of unpermissioned networks is often explained as the sybil problem, which maps to the issues you mention.
Applying OP to this setting wouldn't mitigate that but I'm thinking it can be used as a framework to model and reason about these systems. Perhaps even prove certain properties (assuming some form of sybil resistance mechanism, I guess).
Ideally it wouldn't even have an enabled web browser.
If you find yourself unable to do this, that's a sign that "love" is actually addiction which means the upside for actually decoupling is probably a lot bigger than you imagine if you disregard the idea.

Why do you think that person reading your letter requires those phatic flourishes? Culturally I believe they serve as a form of proof-of-work: The effort is the point.
Written by an LLM, it becomes truluy valueless slop. Just don't generate the slop in the first place.
> I'd you're actually plowing though that slop yourself, you have only yourself to blame.
What a way to react to someone sincerely reading what you wrote them.
I suppose you should be able to make a model describing how the relationship between the fraction of byzantine nodes affects the probability distribution of connectedness. Then you could figure out what algorithm parameters would put you within desired bounds for tolerated ratios of byzantine.
Please don't tell everyone so we can still keep buying them? ;)
Edge caching might not have been as prevalent but was hardly new technology.
> without any privacy or analytics concerns
Uhm, yeah, no. Less bloated JS usually means less concerns but privacy violations and tracking of visitors can very much happen on AMP. Some of that risk isn't removed, just shifted.
What would be really valuable for us would be future support for other distros/repos.
A more unified interface for synchronized publishing across say dep/rpm/archlinux/alpine when we have multi-distro packages to build and publish.
Don't know if Golem is still around but they were/are doing something like that to commoditize GPU.
As with anything crypto there's a fractal of vaporware but at least those two had/have something.
If you do decide to charge for it (and no shame in that), could be nice if you also support people paying you anonymously via crypto.
