2mur··on Reinvented in His 60s, After 26 Jobless Months
They mentioned that he is divorced. Depending on how the judgements/settlements fall out, it can be pretty disastrous for your finances.
2mur··on Node v0.10.14 (Stable)
Just use nvm[1]. It's awesome, use it dev/prod. It's also easy to build and install from source on debian-based distros (my only experience).

2mur··on Node v0.10.14 (Stable)
From the mailing list this is an npm fix mostly for OSX:

    The main fix here is letting users on Mac to upgrade globally installed modules. Also the linux binaries have been rebuilt with an older glibc so people with older systems will actually be able to use it.

Well didn't really fly so much as fell out of the sky into the ocean. Absolutely terrifying.
2mur··on Germans Loved Obama. Now We Don’t Trust Him
That's amazing. So powerful. They have this information on all of us.
2mur··on DevDocs
+1 (Or if I could get MDN's JS docs offline and in-browser (not Dash)).
2mur··on Good Resources to become a Javascript Ninja
Also recommend reading the (very readable) annotated sources of backbone and underscore.

Happy with Rdio. Sticking with them.

This. Rdio is great.
2mur··on Django 1.5 released
The lack of a configurable User model is the reason I had to abandon django on a couple of projects. I like the framework, but formerly User was tied tightly up and down the framework (contrib.auth most notably).
2mur··on Browserify v2 released
You don't have to mangle your code to get it into the AMD format. Just require() like node.js or CommonJS.
2mur··on Browserify v2 released
Awesome. Thanks substack!
2mur··on Learn Git Branching
Awesome. Using some lovely client side tech: backbone, browserify. Going to have to really spend some time looking through the code. Cheers!
2mur··on Why bother with a CSS build process?
Stylus also has a --watch flag and will rebuild on the fly.
2mur··on GoDaddy deletes my domains and charges me to restore them
I recommend iwantmyname.com

They're on HN, and have good support. Have several .io through them.

Any reason you have node-irc in the lib instead of npm installing it as a dep?

2mur··on The Illusion of Class
I generally write my constructor functions so I can easily forget 'new':

  function Point(x, y){
    if (!(this instanceof Point)) {
      return new Point(x, y);
    }
    this.x = x;
    this.y = y;
  }
then you can just call:

  var point = Point(x, y);
HT to issacs (node, npm) who I picked that up from.

2mur··on Git Tips And Workflows
--bare ensures you don't have a working directory. It is the bare .git directory only. You don't want people pushing to your working directory. Simple as that.
2mur··on The Case for Drinking as Much Coffee as You Like
Frankly, as someone who probably doesn't eat as much fiber as I should and who sits far too long all day, this is just another added benefit. Gotta keep moving.
2mur··on Dell releases powerful, well-supported Linux Ultrabook
How is the sleep support? Can you close the lid and go?

Whenever I have tried to use linux on a laptop, I've never had this working right. One of the big reasons why I've always gone back to a macbook (that and the hardware).

2mur··on Flatiron, A framework for Node.js
expressjs is the most frequently used framework. Geddy is another one. Socketstream is also being developed.

Personally, I'm moving away from using frameworks. Just starting to bang together all of the awesome modules from npm. (Mostly inspired by Issac's npm-www[1] for npmjs.org)
