What's really the most interesting thing is that I don't think but a few people have mentioned anything other than the name in their comments resulting in a meaningless discussion about what could be something quite interesting.
To those who are doing this, I have a question. How distributed is your production environment? How is deploying the app, starting/stopping background services, etc... handled on multiple machines?
My gut feeling tells me Redis should be faster at this, and as everyone else has pointed out, the methods used to arrive at these conclusions are most certainly questionable.
Ever since reading that post, I've tried my best to adhere to similar guidelines. On a personal level, it kind of gives you a little 'retro' on what is was you just did, which is never a bad thing. I've also found myself making larger, more meaningful commits, which, I think, is a good thing.
Am I the only one who just plain doesn't understand the value these tools provide? From my perspective, why not just _write_ javascript? Seems ridiculous. I mean, they're fun and all, but no one sets out to do a project of meaning or scale and chooses these tools, do they?
