0x54MUR41··on Ask HN: What's the lifespan of posts on HN? Or How often should one check HN?
It depends on how the posts are ranked [0]

  How are stories ranked?

The basic algorithm divides points by a power of the time since a story was submitted. Comments in threads are ranked the same way.

Other factors affecting rank include user flags, anti-abuse software, software which demotes overheated discussions, and moderator intervention.
I recommend you to check Hacker News Daily [1] because it summarizes top stories on HN daily. It also summarizes Ask HN, but weekly [2].

I think you don't need to check HN frequently. If you miss a day, you can always go back or jump to date using Past page [3]. Other user has mentioned tools, like hckr news and HN Search using Algolia.

0x54MUR41··on Ask HN: What Firefox add-ons do you use?
I use uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger. uBlock Origin blocks the ads and Privacy Badger blocks invisible trackers.

I think I'm gonna drop Privacy Badger since the latest Firefox version includes Content Blocking https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/content-blocking.

0x54MUR41··on Q Vault – An open source secret manager
Hi lanecwagner,

Congratulation for releasing Q Vault!

If I am not mistaken, that project is your work. It's better to put "Show HN" on your post title and link to the project.

"Show HN" is a way to share something that you've made on HN as mentioned on https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html

0x54MUR41··on Ask HN: Where to Learn Database Design?
Have a look this one http://www.databaseanswers.org/data_models/index.htm?

You can learn the database design by example.

0x54MUR41··on Ask HN: Which Bookmarking software do you use?
I use Reminiscence [0], self-hosted bookmark and archive manager. I chose this software because it's open source, easy to install, and self-hosted. It works like other bookmarking software, but it has automatic tagging and summarization which is plus.

When I bookmark a link from the internet, I just submit the link. Reminiscence will crawl the link later (asynchronous communication). You can also use browser to bookmark. Currently, browser extension is available for Firefox (experimental not official).

This software has been discussed on HN [1] a few months ago.
