037··on Native JSON Output from GPT-4
I'm wondering if introducing a system message like "convert the resulting json to yaml and return the yaml only" would adversely affect the optimization done for these models. The reason is that yaml uses significantly fewer tokens compared to json. For the output, where data type specification or adding comments may not be necessary, this could be beneficial. From my understanding, specifying functions in json now uses fewer tokens, but I believe the response still consumes the usual amount of tokens.

Ever since I can recall, I've wanted to write a novel. After a few unsuccessful attempts, about a decade ago I started one and it turned out to be a very long process, especially the editing phase. At one point, I was on the verge of giving up because I was unsure of myself and naturally started having doubts, amidst my solitude. However, I couldn't bear the thought of the lingering regret of not finishing it and the cycle of starting new ones just to complete one. So I persisted, did everything, saw it through to the end, even though I've never really had the courage to show it to others (except a couple of friends and I published the first few pages) - I'm delighted that I did:

I know I've written a novel; I no longer have to start another just to prove to myself that I can finish one. My writing has tremendously improved and I believe if I decided to write another, it would be significantly better than the first one. So, in a way, I agree: if you're almost done, persisting to the end could be a good idea, even if it's just to free yourself from obsession.

It's so simple, yet brilliant. However, I wouldn't pay more than $2 or $3 for it.

My feeling is that since we sometimes looked away from the phone, they are now sticking it directly to our faces.

You're right. For me it was relevant because, for some reason, this is the first time I've experienced this feeling while looking at one of the latest 1000 studies on the subject. However, I must admit that I too am feeling a bit of fatigue when it comes to AI, and I understand the need for specificity.

In the last century, machines replaced craftsmen by doing machine-like work (a handmade nightstand vs an industrial nightstand). Now they will also replace the remaining craftsmen, or the last jobs that only a craftsman could do (just look at the example of icons in the suggested style).

But it doesn't matter, soon they will stop doing what we prefer, I guess...
