Ask HN: Animation VS. Live Action Video for App Demo

1 pointpointum0 comments

I'm working on app redesign and I need to show users how to use new gestures to control the app. Here's what my in-app animation draft looks like when a user clicks "Show Gestures" button: https://youtu.be/SjRbqp3x6ZQ

Is this animation clear enough to demonstrate the gestures? Alternatively here's a draft of live action video that shows the same thing: https://youtu.be/v3myHBXcT34

I think the second video is a clearer depiction, but I don't want to send users to watch video online to learn. In-app animation would be a smoother experience. Which approach would work better for you?
