Ask HN: What Would You Do with 2gbps at Home?
I noticed that Comcast just last week started offering their X1 Gigabit Pro 2gbps service here in Redwood City, CA. It's crazy pricey ($299/mo!) but crazy fast at 2gbps symmetric. It's the first consumer service I've seen that requires 10gbE equipment (also pricey). While I wish Google Fiber were available here ($70/mo for 1gbps) it's not yet. But for those who have thought about it or already have such speeds at home faster than some countries, how do you make best use of it? Tor nodes? Mirrors? 4k video uploading parties for local videographers? Hackathons? Server clusters? Streaming video walls?
Disclaimer: I work for Google but not for gFiber.
