The twitter feed of the person being caricatured, in which he responds to the media attention:

I also enjoyed this previous installment of 27bslash6.com

In particular he claims the emails were fabricated. http://twitter.com/SimonEdhouse/status/6071359420

If the e-mails are indeed fabricated, this is pretty messed up.. The guy is now a laughingstock on the internet, all the while he's trying to making a living promoting his business.

@FxNxRl LOL... Alan, yes strangely, I making a lot of new acquaintences/friends through this silly episode.. a fascinating soap opera.

Thats the game. Admit it, you are having fun. __________________

That's the only thing he could be expected to say - regardless of whether the exchange was misrepresented.

"Actually, you were asking me to design a logotype which would have taken me a few hours and fifteen years experience."

While the whole chain is hilarious, that point is really worth remembering as a contractor.

Actually this touches on something that I've been thinking about. How do you guys make pretty charts and graphs? I use R to do statistical analysis, but nothing from R ever really looks that good (same with Matlab). Whenever I want to make a pie chart or similar I always end up using Mathematica or Illustrator. Is that normal?

I think he may have created his with the Google Chart api:

Edit: On closer inspection, maybe not. However the link is worth a look.

chances it's made with the Google Chart API: http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=p3&chd=t:99,01...

http://raphaeljs.com/ - these charts look very nice

This post would have been much better if the name was faked. Exposing a person like this is simply rude - - and should not be seen as humor, but as an attack on another person.

It's a comedy website. Not true.

This guy is a jerk if his email trails are for real, but oh my gosh they are funny. I just closed them out so that I will not attract attention for laughing at work.

"Unfortunately the part that was commercially viable was not original, and the part that was original was not commercially viable."

That's awesome.

It's also a paraphrase of a much, much older phrase. I remember encountering it in the 70s. Something like:

  This (book|article|thesis|whatever) contains much that
is good and original. Unfortunately the parts that are
good are not original, and the parts that are original
  are not good.

You are right - I remember hearing/reading that one now too, but I can't remember who said it. (It may have even been Churchill or Oscar Wilde.)
