Reddit was supposed to be an autonomous system free of arbitrary intervention. Volunteer mods had complete power over their subreddits with all the benefits and drawbacks that brings. Suddenly a new CEO has introduced arbitrary censorship and taken power from mods. That means reddit is no longer community run. This is the exact same thing that happened to digg. I can't fathom how reddit's board of directors is ok with this, but apparently they are. Hope they make a lot of money.
Tyranny does not work. Communities built from ground up cannot be ruled by a new emperor, it has its own immune system to eject the foreign body almost like the human body. This is happening now.
