Linguistic Anonymity on the Internet

It would be interesting to expand this discussion to political dissidents and other cases where anonymity can be important. As presented this is just applying to modern culture the first part of the Turing Test thought experiment, which I'm surprised is not mentioned.

I feel like I've been scammed out of a few minutes of my evening to hear somebody repeat unconfirmed allegations which appear to be largely false.

I'm a bit insulted that somebody thought this would fly here.
