Dalvik (the android JVM) is supported by Google, not Oracle; it's up to Google which versions they support. (For people who want to write code that works on both Android and desktop Java, remember that Java 7 code runs fine on a Java 8 JVM).

Basically Oracle no longer freely supports their version of Java7. For Android, Google is responsible, and as an end user you don't get any support at all.
