I've got the problem of OSX filling up gigabytes of space with no rhyme or reason. One minute I'll have 10gb fee then I'll have 900mb free. Then it'll free up again.
You're running out of memory and OS X is swapping to disk.
I'm having this - OP check the Memory Pressure section in Activity Monitor. The annoying thing is all I've got running are Spotify, Skype, Chrome (with a couple of tabs) and iTerm. I guess 4GB isn't enough anymore...
I've got 16GB and the same thing happens to me. It will expand to take up all the RAM and disk space available.
Could be it. I do use TimeMachine, but only plug-in occasionally with this laptop.
I had a similar issue with Creative Cloud spamming the log files with a few TB of garbage. Worth a quick check at least.
I'll give it a look. I do have CC installed.
Kind of sounds like a time machine issue.
HDD space or RAM?
I want to hope it's RAM OP is referring to. But if it's disk, that is way way too low of a margin. You should keep at least 10% of your disk empty especially if it's an SSD.
HDD space. Just swapped out my DVD drive and added a 1tb drive, so I guess I'll be okay if I can move things over to the secondary drive.
