Posting content using another service, and then putting a paypal button in front of that content, doesn't really seem like it would fall under "Providing us with content or posting content using the service". I would interpret this to mean that if you upload a logo or something to display on your paypal-hosted payment page, you're giving paypal the right to display that logo.

[when sending assets to Paypal for publication] you grant the PayPal Group a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable (through multiple tiers) right to exercise any and all copyright, publicity, trademarks, database rights and intellectual property rights you have in the content, in any media known now or in the future.

Allowing Paypal to publish your logo doesn't require most of this. Perpetual and irrevocable? Why?

Because the lawyers write these things to protect their company, and most people will approve the TOS unread.

It's probably so Paypal can legally rehost imagery used by sellers when showing customers a page to pay for a seller's wares.

Perhaps this is in anticipation of a new service, but this isn't really applicable to the typical sale of content, since you don't ever "provide" PayPal with content or "post" content using PayPal's services in those cases. PayPal is not a middleman in the way Apple or Steam are.

Isn't this pretty standard now in ToS agreements to stop you from suing for them hosting images / videos in relation to what they do

I really hope that this is a bad, belated April fools' day joke.

If it's not, I doubt that this is actually lawful in Europe
