Here are dozens of existing themes: http://emacsthemes.caisah.info

At least 3 of those themes on the front page were made with this theme creator.

This is awesome. Being colorblind, I find many available/popular themes hard to work with/not in my taste.

I feel this is something that should be an emacs-mode, though. You could then test your theme-to-be against your own work.

I've tried lots of themes, but I keep going back to Bozhidar Batsov's Zenburn[1], which ships as the default theme with the same author's Emacs Prelude[2].

I do not want to be controversial but is there an equivalent for Vim?

I'm not a vim user, so I cannot vouch for it, but is Villustrator [0] or Vivify [1] helpful?

That's great, thanks !

Current customization options are pretty crude, but this is a nice starting point, both for the tool and for a theme.

I see you are a fellow Project Euler-er! How far have you gotten?

not that far. ~ 75 solved problems. At some point my maths skills are simply insufficient.

That's impressive! I'm skilled in math but a novice programmer, so I've not gotten far (yet! still hopeful).

calm forest my favourite theme, and I've been through a lot

The created themes don't display correctly on terminals.

What font are they using?

The font in the screenshots is Ubuntu Mono.
