Data escrow services?

I'm looking to buy data from someone on the internet for a reasonably large sum of money. I've never met them -- they seem reliable enough. They want me to send them the money after which they will send me the data. Is there any way to make this more reliable? Is there an escrow service I can use? Any past experience with this problem?
