Procedural Altar Generation

I would think someone this into roguelikes would know it. OP seems to be more focused on the actual graphical representation besides the syntactical/semantic representation though; something DF is very much not known for.

He's had to have seen DF, look at his screenshots, looks very similar to DF.

There's an extended interview with the author at http://www.roguelikeradio.com/2015/01/episode-96-ultima-rati...

Been a while since I listened to it, but I'm pretty sure DF gets a mention or two in there..

He has:

http://www.ultimaratioregum.co.uk/about-me/

> Its narrative and themes are inspired by the works of Jorge Borges and Umberto Eco, and its gameplay by Dwarf Fortress and Dark Souls.

I believe he refers to a wider concept, since he writes, "spirits":

> have a range of animistic of (ED: I think he means "or") shamanistic beliefs, totemism, ancestor worship, etc

so even if e.g. fetishism or cults of the ancestors might generally coexist with animism they are not exactly the same, hence the made up "spirits religions".
