Ask HN: What does it mean to sign NDA?
I have been looking to buy an internet business and came across a broker firm that deals in such deals. Whereas Flippa, allows open and direct communication with seller, this broker has asked me to sign a NDA before getting on the phone. I'd like to point out, we are nowhere close to discussing a specific business deal. I am just trying to understand what they bring to the table and what are they offering. Is this a fair request on the broker's side? Asking me to sign a legal document before they can even disclose the name and nature of the business. It makes me a little uncomfortable signing a generic NDA w/o knowing how it ties me down. For ex, will it bind me from using any technique/method/idea that is employed by this business, now or in future.
I understand this is not the place for a legal counsel. But if people have prior experience reading/writing NDA's, opinions would be appreciated. Below is a scrubbed version of the document with any proprietary information removed.
Appreciate the help!

PS - NDA will be in effect for 2 years from date of signing.
