If your life is difficult, someone undoubtedly has it worse, but feels hopeful

I recall Victor Frankl discussing this phenomenon in "Man's Search for Meaning." Your problems -- no matter how trivial in an objective sense -- tend to expand to fill your psychological space.

I've always thought about how someone always has it worse, but never heard the addition "but feels hopeful". That added a nice twist to it.

I often wonder how this sort of mawkish spam continues to have a foothold in the internet.

Just finished the audio version of The Good Soldiers by David Finkel. Awesome book. After "reading" that book, any frustration I have had this week is nothing in comparison to the trials found in "The Good Soldiers".

It's just choosing a different life style. I can't imagine a world where everyone is content with what they have.

Some choose to be content and live a nice simple life, some choose to be overly ambitious in constant pursuit of something better, some have no ability to choose and just live with no control over themselves.

It annoys me when someone tries to suggest that a certain lifestyle is ideal for everyone but I guess some need to be reminded that they do have a choice.
