I haven't yet figured out how to get a Node.js process to start back up after the server has rebooted, and it looks like the traffic has been killed me a couple of times.
forever -w start yourFile.js
That'll keep it up and going as a daemon and reboot it when files change :)
Also, setting up a CDN in front of your static files is actually much easier than it sounds at first. You can just setup a Cloudfront distribution that uses your domain as its source; that should take off a lot of the load.
