I believe Google's "One Box" question answering has a semi-manual processing of "trusted" sources.

For a long time only a selected set of highly-trusted sources were used, but my understanding is that they are now a lot more aggressive with using sources - which I suspect means automatically using sources above a certain trust level, and then gray-listing problem sites.
