Yosemite seems to send an identifying cookie that is also used when surfing the Apple website with Safari when "About this Mac" is clicked or when Spotlight or help are searched.

How did Apple get from http://www.apple.com/privacy/ to this in a matter of weeks?

You could also just disable spotlight:

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

and use [Alfred](http://www.alfredapp.com/).

Alfred uses Spotlight's index though, so disabling Spotlight will probably break Alfred.
