Although they removed that restriction in 2009, I believe that they re-restricted their banking to military affiliated persons as of a few months ago.

However, features like mobile check depositing are only available to "qualified members" (i.e. those with a military connection).

Are you sure? I have looked into several of these things, and I could have sworn their application asks for some kind of military personnel number.

For years, USAA didn't require military affiliation. That is no longer the case.
