Cloud busting at Swedens largest airport?

A far more likely explanation is that it is an artifact on the radar image.

The rain intensity map is a synthetic image that is usually calculated from inputs from several Doppler radars. Probably one of the radars is located at the airport and is picking up some local clutter.

Looks like a limitation of the radar system. The view that he's showing is a composite view (there's no weather radar that could cover all of Sweden from one single installation). I suspect that there are two stations in Stockholm (one at Arlanda and one south of the city) and that the one south of the city is out of service. The "missing" area is due to the weather radar at Arlanda not being built to view directly overhead. Normally this is hidden by overlaying the same readings from two covering stations.

What strikes me is the alarmist tone this is written in.

My conclusion was spotty data, I've seen similar holes in the radar map for rain not only in one place. One could ask the people who make the data why it looks that way.

Or they remove the data there because all the other radar activity around the airport makes it unreliable?

Perhaps the large expanse of tarmac or the concentration of jet exhaust is responsible for this?
