Ask HN: Those that travel and code, how did you start?

Hi everyone,

I'm sure there are a lot of developers who have the opportunity to travel and code at the same time. Shipping product from different countries all the time.

I would like to know, how did you start? Does your ability to ship code suffer? How did you persuade your boss to let you work like that? Are there any downsides?
