Ask HN:How do you come up with interesting ideas and ask unusual questions?

Hi everybody! I want to ask you a question. How do you generate ideas, and what are the best resources on creativity that you know? Also - how to ask questions that lead to unusual thoughts and ideas?

I'm trying to learn to challenge the default assumptions and come up with new valuable thoughts, and more importantly - understand and control this process. I suspect there's a lot of clever/creative people in this community, so I want to ask you to describe the process of coming up with new ideas.
