Ask HN: People constantly 'connecting' to my GMail address?
I have a name that's fairly common in a certain part of the world (not where I live). I happened to get the first.last@gmail.com address for my name years ago.
Since then, I get nearly daily attempts to connect another gmail address to my account (which I always disavow). Not only that, I get e-mails from Microsoft, Nokia, and many more claiming that I've signed my e-mail address up for their service and I need to validate (which I disavow if this option is provided, and ignore otherwise). I'm curious who does this and what their motivation is.
I use 2-factor authentication on my GMail account because of this. There must be people on HN who have the same problem (and undoubtedly even worse than I do). I'm wondering: is there anything else that can be done to address this issue?
