I just can't help but think of: http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2008/01/26/28-not-having-a-t... every time I read that. I gotta admit, I'm 100% guilty of the same, but doesn't mean I can't smile every time I come across it.
Its like saying "Americans have 3 boxes of kleenex for just one nose!" They're cheap, they're ubiquitous, get over it.
The difference is that if what I want to watch isn't on when I want to watch it, I just turn the TV off. What's so hard about that?

Not to say that TV is one of those things -- I'm just saying that having the ability to show restraint is a admirable trait.
I actually do miss it, for one reason: vegging out is a fundamental human need, and nothing helps you vege out better than a TV.
