At this point, there should be a small department to deal with these sorts of issues, another to deal with abuse problems, etc. Way too many things go unchecked and it makes for an unpleasant user experience.

Who said that this story is "important" anyway? It's a story for sure, and it's interesting that someone would be offered 50k for a twitter handle and then have it stolen, but you're the one propping up a straw man. No one ever said this is an "important story".
