Ask HN: main criticisms / shortcomings with Lean Startup?

The Lean Startup came out a few years ago as a quicker methodology to learn what can work and not work in business, through hypothesis and validation stages. Everyone I know who's read it gives it high praise.

My question to HN: how can the lean startup methodology fall short? What types of successful existing businesses would never have been started if they followed it?

Cheers
