Not to defend the execs behavior at all, but as a parent I have seen it going through the toy aisle with my daughter.

  Me:  "Why don't you get <toy with Lightning McQueen on it>?"
  Her: "It's a boy toy."
  Me:  "I thought you liked Lightning McQueen"
  Her: "I do, but that's a boy's toy"
