Agreed, with the caveat that I can only handle a couple of posts this deep before feeling intimidated and longing for something more lightweight. I like the mix of articles because if all of them were this deep it would feel like I don't belong here without years of prerequisite study.

This post inspired me to up-vote. It's amazing how popular hacker news tends to be among the people I talk to but how few votes it can take to be on the front page.
