Ask HN: Website of statuses idea

Would anyone find useful a website that contains a list of statuses?

Some things I would like to monitor + Whether my local freeway onramp is closed + If the pool at my gym is closed + If bart is closed

In a sense you could use twitter to do this if you monitored certain hash tags.

The problem though is I'm not sure on how businesses would adopt to 'owning' and updating these sensors (I currently know by checking my facebook).
