What about server side implementation? I saw that you are using Apache. If you are on Django or Rails you can easily switch to Nginx and gain some benefits.
I have to admit with much shame that it's still PHP based but moving is on the to do list!
You shouldn't feel shame about that, even though it looks like you just used it as an MVP tool.
