Can anyone clarify the relationship between this and Errplane - is this a rebranding, a new complementary product, a new iteration of the existing product, etc?

Looks like it's a side project of errplane or something. On the errplane site, there's a link to anomalous in their nav bar.

It's a new iteration of the server side stuff in Errplane, but it's a separate product.
